Jim Piesse "Contemporary Hand Technique" Workshops
Sabian artist Jim Piesse has generated enormous interest amongst
drummers with his "Contemporary Hand Technique" workshops. Jim studies
in the U.S.A. with the legendary drummer Joe Morello, and the workshops
show the fundamentals of the techniques Joe teaches, using natural
hand positions and simple physical principles. Morello achieved
worldwide acclaim through his playing with the Dave Brubeck Quartet.
His peerless musicianship and mastery of the instrument caused a
sensation. He has been elected to the "Modern Drummer" magazine's
Hall of Fame, and is one of the most in-demand teachers in the U.S.A.
Based in Sydney, Australia, Jim Piesse has toured with many Australian
and International performers. For some years he was Musical Director
for "The Four Kinsmen". The group won twenty six Australian entertainment
industry "Mo" awards, including the Peter Allen "Variety Performers
of the Year" (1966) and "Variety Group of the Year". (1998) Jim's
"Contemporary Hand Technique" workshops are suitable for both beginners
and professionals alike. Elite local drummers Andrew Gander, Hamish
Stuart and Darryn Farrugia have studied this material with Jim and
say...
" I recommend that everyone study these techniques. I wish I'd
known about this stuff twenty years ago!" Andrew Gander
" These techniques helped me with some problems I was having.
I've never looked back!" Hamish Stuart
" Jim has a vast knowledge of natural hand technique and a great
talent for passing that knowledge on to others. I take every possible
opportunity to see Jim for a lesson" Darryn Farrugia.
In a recent interview, Piesse said " I've been extremely fortunate
to have spent so much time with Joe. I love to pass on what he's
taught me. These workshops are "hands- on" and I encourage an open
and non-threatening atmosphere where everyone can learn. I want
to see every participant go home with information they understand
and can really use".
